About AcornRetain

What it is

AcornRetain does one job. When a paying subscriber clicks cancel, it shows a short branching survey and makes a single retention offer: a discount, a pause, a plan change, or a trial extension. If they accept, we apply it to their Stripe subscription ourselves, using coupons and prices that already exist in your account. If they leave anyway, you still get the reason, in a form you can count. Installation is a browser snippet pointed at the cancel button you already have, with no redirect and no new page to build.

It is deliberately a tool rather than a platform. There is no dunning, no win-back campaign builder, and no billing provider other than Stripe. The setup guide is short for the same reason, and the price is flat: a percentage of the revenue you saved is a tax on doing the thing well.

Why we built it

We were customers of a cancel-flow product first, and we used one slice of it. The survey and the save offer were the parts that earned their keep; the rest of the suite was paid for and unused, and the bill scaled with revenue rather than with anything we consumed. So AcornRetain is that slice, done properly, at a price that does not punish growth. Our design partner runs it in production on real cancellations, which is why the surface is narrow and the parts that exist are the parts that get used.

Who builds it

AcornRetain is built and run by PerfSpot LLC, a small US software company, as part of a family of independent tools. It is a small team that ships focused products and then keeps them running, which is the harder half. There is no sales team to get past: support questions go to the contact page and a person who works on the product answers them, usually within a business day.
