Guides to reducing subscription churn
Three guides on the part of retention we work in every day: why subscribers cancel, what to do at the moment they click cancel, and how to reach the ones who already left. They are written to be useful whether or not you ever buy anything from us, which also means they say plainly where our own product stops.
How to reduce churn
Why subscribers cancel, the tactics that reduce it, and how a save flow catches the ones who have already decided to leave.

Where this fits
- What is customer retention software?
- It is a broad category covering several different jobs: customer-health scoring and account management, lifecycle messaging and win-back campaigns, failed-payment recovery, and cancellation save flows. Most products in the category do two or three of those. Very few do all of them well, so the useful question is not which tool is best but which of those jobs you are actually trying to do.
- Which part of that does AcornRetain do?
- One part: the cancellation save flow. When a subscriber clicks cancel, AcornRetain shows a branching survey and makes one retention offer, a discount, a pause, a plan change or a trial extension, and applies it to their Stripe subscription. It does not do customer-health scoring, it does not run win-back campaigns, it does not do dunning or failed-payment recovery, and it only connects to Stripe. If you need those, you need a broader platform and we would rather say so now.
- Do I need a full retention platform or just a cancel flow?
- A full platform earns its price if you also want failed-payment recovery and lifecycle campaigns running alongside the cancel flow, from one vendor. If those are separate problems you have already solved, or have not reached yet, a tool that only does the save flow is a smaller and cheaper decision, and it is the one that pays back fastest because it works on people who have already decided to leave.

The comparison pages set out how AcornRetain differs from Churnkey, Chargebee Retention and ProsperStack, including which buyer should pick the other one. The setup guide covers what installing ours actually involves.
